Spring Cleaning Tips

The days are longer, the weather is warmer; spring is here, and it’s here to stay! Now is the perfect time to start your spring cleaning projects around your home! Spring cleaning is a way homeowners can organize their home, both inside and outside, to get their home ready for the summer! Here are some simple and easy tips and steps to take when you are spring cleaning this year!

Make a schedule / checklist

Start your spring cleaning with the inside of your home, then your garage and the front and back yards.  Remember to take notes of what needs to be cleaned, fixed or replaced. Regardless of what you start first, you should have a detailed schedule or checklist to help organize your tasks, and make sure you’re getting everything that needs to be done.

A great spring cleaning task that will make you more efficient with your space as well as organized is decluttering! Studies have shown that an unorganized home can make stress levels rise. When cleaning this spring, make sure to set aside some time to organize your closets, organize your office, and clean out and organize “junk” drawers.

Another spring cleaning idea is to clean your windows, both on the inside and outside! During the brutal winter months, there was snow and precipitation, which ultimately makes your windows dirty from the outside. To clean your outdoor windows, you can either use a power washer, which will clean away all of the water stains, or you hand wash them as well. When cleaning your windows from the inside, make sure to use a window cleaner, as well as dust all of the frames and blinds surrounding your windows!

Work from top to bottom

When you’re cleaning, it’s a good idea to start from the top of your house and work your way down. Start by dusting your ceiling fans, tall windows and ceilings. While doing this, a lot of dust and dirt fall, which only makes sense to leave vacuuming until the end!

Clean one room at a time

Another efficient tip to make sure your home is getting cleaned in a timely manner is by cleaning room-by-room. This is the most efficient way to clean your home at any time during the year, and it allows for a more organized and precise checklist and schedule!

Get the family involved

Spring cleaning projects can take a lot of time depending on how dirty your home is. A good way to be more efficient and quick while cleaning is getting the rest of the family involved. Delegating easy tasks to children will allow you to get your cleaning done in half the time!

Don’t forget about your air

Lastly, it’s important that you are taking care of your HVAC system, especially during the spring. Make sure you change your air filter to allow for clean, quality air to fill your home!

A clean home doesn’t only look good, but feels good as well. Cleaning your home will reduce stress, increase air quality and ultimately establish a healthy living environment. Use these tips when performing your spring cleaning this year!
